Society of Historians

ABOUT US

This society was organized on December 26, 1941 for the purpose of encouraging the collection and preservation of North Carolina history, including genealogy and archaeology; to aid in and encourage the exchange of information; and to give recognition to those engaged in these projects. We present annual awards in a number of categories dealing with all aspects of historical/ genealogical research, publication and preservation.  

Any awards given by this society are NEVER restricted to the works of society members. Entries MUST deal primarily with some aspect of North Carolina history.

In addition, The North Carolina Society of Historians is a membership based organization.
