Willie Parker Peace

Willie Parker Peace was a wonderful lady and an exceptional historian.

She was the wife of Samuel Thomas Peace, Sr. of Henderson, North Carolina, with whom she had three children:  two daughters and a son.

She was very active in club work, was civic minded, a good Methodist lay-woman, and a philanthropist.

Mrs. Peace died on December 19, 1963, at the age of 81.  The historical legacy she left behind earned her the honor of having our history book award named in her memory.

The Willie Parker Peace Award was established on December 6, 1958.
