Bridges was presented the Willie Parker Peace award for a book entitled, Cabarrus County Tax Assessment Records 1860 and 1863, which they transcribed for The Cabarrus County Genealogy Society. The Cabarrus County Genealogy Society has compiled the comprehensive tax assessment records in Cabarrus County for the years 1860 and 1863. The 1863 index includes slaves required to be listed with real property subject to taxation. They are listed in district numbers 1-12. This book will prove to be a valuable source of information for students and researchers of African American history or families tracing their genealogy in the county. The index includes the name of persons, number acres, value per acre, total value, age of slave, value of slave and comments (blacksmith) or (unsound).
