Award Information

Membership in the North Carolina Society of Historians is NOT a requirement for making a nomination, submitting an entry nor for receiving an award. We do, however, welcome the support of new members.

When sending material, please submit ONE (1) copy of the published work. All nominated books, articles, newsletters, videos and other published material must be original works.

If you wish to submit an unpublished manuscript, reprint or previously published work, please send a description ONLY to the president of the NCSH for consideration before mailing the work. You will be notified as to the work's eligibility.

Entries will NOT be returned; therefore, do NOT submit your only copy!

Nominations must be accompanied by the proper ENTRY FORM(S).  These forms are available online in the AWARDS section on this site. Forms are also available by writing to the society address. .

No entry fee is charged and anyone may submit a nomination or entry.

Only non-residents, should they be an award recipient, may request their award be mailed to them. Award winners residing in the State of North Carolina, may have someone accept for them if they are unable to personally accept the award.

Awards for winning entries will be presented at the annual meeting on the second Saturday in October.
