The President's Award

The President's Award is a little different from the other awards, as only one is presented in this category each year.

It is the North Carolina Society of Historian's current President's choice.

Those qualifying for consideration must have had a winning entry during the current year, winning by unanimous decision of their category's panel of judges.

From those receiving an award by unanimous decision, one is chosen for this award by the President."

It was with great pride that the President's Award for 2008 was presented to Mary Louise Swink Harmon of Columbia, South Carolina for her award winning books, Swinks of Burke, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Linclon, McDowell, Mecklenburg and Rutherford Counties of North Carolina, 1738-2000. Volume One and Swinks of Burke, Catawba, Cleveland, Gaston, Linclon, McDowell, Mecklenburg and Rutherford Counties of North Carolina, C 1915-1920.

Congratulations Mary!
